Electrical Definitions
|
Manchester : A format for recording digital data on a magnetic surface. |
Maser : Acronym for microwave amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.
A source of intense coherent monochromatic radiation in the microwave region of the
electromagnetic spectrum. |
Masking : A special effect in which part of picture signals is suppressed
electronically with a view to its substraction by another picture signals. |
Mass Core : A core for electromagnetic apparatus, particularly in
telegraphy composed of pulverised iron or other magnetic material with a binder
of nonmagnetic material. |
Mass Spectrum : A spectrum obtained by deflecting a beam of positive Rays
emitted from a tube, containing a residual gas to be investigated by electric or magnetic
fields. |
Maxwell : It is the unit of magnetic flux in the obsolete CGS unit.
One maxwell=10^-8 weber. |
Maxwell Bridge : A four arms bridge for measurement of inductance in
terms of capacitance and resistance. |
Meters : An electronic device used for measuring current, voltage
flow to determine the energy consumption. |
Megger : The instrument meant for the measurement of resistance of the
order of kilo and mega ohms is called a megger. |
Microstrip : A transmission line consisting of a conducting strip and a parallel
extending conducting surface bonded to opposite side of the thin electric substrate. |
Microprocessor : An integrated circuit containing all necessary computational
and control circuitry on a single silicon chip and is the brains of a microcomputer. |
