Scanner : A device that examines a spatial pattern one part after another and
generates analogue or digital signals corresponding to the pattern. They are often used in
mark sensing, pattern recognition or character recognition. |
Scintillation : A bunch of light obtained from certain materials when exposed to
ionizing radiation. |
Semiconductor : A small component having an electrical conductivity between
the high conductivity of metals and the low conductivity of insulators. |
Silicon Controlled Rectifier : It is three junction three terminal semiconductor
diode used for switching moderate power devices. |
Sine Wave : A fundamental waveform whose amplitude varies as the sine of a linear
function of its argument, expressed in either radians, degrees or time. |
Strain Gauge : A device that measures strain at the surface of a solid body means
of changes in the electrical properties of associated circuits. |
Stray Capacitance : Capacitance which exists incidently between portions of a circuit at different
potentials as opposed to capacitance intentionally placed in the circuit. |
Switching Time : The time from the 50% of level of command signal to the 90% of the
RF output. |
